Saudi Arabia is experiencing a surge in exciting hotel openings across the country, from Riyadh to the Red Sea. Now, Marriott International has announced that it is behind an Autograph Collection in AlUla. Scheduled to open in 2027, here’s what we know about the first Autograph Collection Hotel..
Spanning 22,635 square meters, the NUMAJ Autograph Collection AlUla hotel will be located in central AlUla, next to the AlUla Museum and opposite the Farmer’s Market. The hotel will boast 250 rooms and suites, four restaurants, a spa, a swimming pool, a gym, a business centre and shops.
Offering a stay where heritage, nature, and the cosmos converge, the name NUMAJ draws from Nu Ursae Majoris, a star in the Ursa Major constellation historically observed in the Arabian skies. Its Arabic root, Al Kafzah al Ula or “the first leap,” evokes both celestial navigation and new beginnings — a fitting tribute to a destination that connects past and future through the stars above.
Designed by GioForma, NUMAJ has been imagined as a “tapestry of the land.” Think traditional mushrabia patterns, stone carvings, earthy palettes and an open-air layout that mirrors the natural rhythm of AlUla itself. Rooted in sustainability, the hotel also aims for LEED Gold certification, blending modern design with ecological responsibility.
