Featuring 73 metal orb overwater villas, Sheybarah Resort is scheduled to open in 2024.

The Red Sea Project is one of the most exciting megaprojects in Saudi Arabia. Epic in scale, it is an ambitious regenerative tourism project located in Tabuk province.

Marked as a leading destination for eco-luxury, covering 28,000 km² of islands, beaches, deserts, and dormant volcanos, the latest addition to the Red Sea Project is Sheybarah Resort.

The guest experience begins with a sea-plane arrival, followed by transportation to the inner lagoon via driverless buggies. Guests are then guided to the lobby, which provides access to the different parts of the resort, where coral reef water villas, lagoon villas, beach villas, a signature restaurant and a spa experience await. All accommodation options offer panoramic views of the sea, with sliding doors that open to a deck and an infinity pool with uninterrupted views of the sea and horizon beyond.

The resort, designed by Dubai's Killa Design, complements the uniqueness of the Red Sea location. The façade of the 73 metal orb overwater villas have been designed to minimise visual impact, utilising a highly reflective stainless-steel skin polished to a mirror finish. These reflective orbs float, almost imperceptible, reflecting the surface patterns of the ocean and the colours of the sky as they change throughout the day.

Upon the delivery of the first batch of overwater villas, John Pagano the CEO of Red Sea Global, said: "There are elements of the project, however, that don't necessarily fit into any one hotel brand. Brands have their own standards, but since we are designing something that has never been designed before, it's needed in some instances for us to create our own separate one-offs than to try and force a brand into something."

The hyper-luxury resort is currently under construction in the southeast of the Red Sea archipelago. The environmentally sustainable development boasts LEED Platinum certification, an off-grid system, and zero energy and water consumption. The resort will be powered by a central solar farm and obtains fresh water from a solar-powered desalination plant that can support over 140 guests and 260 staff for all needs including transportation from the mainland.
