The show runs from 2 to 6 June, and tickets are available now.
Few silhouettes are as famous as Charlie Chaplin. The comedian is known throughout the world for his tramp persona and comic timing. Now, Jeddah Events is celebrating the icon in the musical Charlie. Taking place from 2 to 6 June, here’s how to join the fun and have a laugh at the Charlie Chaplin show in Jeddah.
Taking place at City Walk, Charlie follows the ups and downs in the performer’s career. The creators are aiming to match Broadway productions and put on a showstopper in the heart of Jeddah. The show captures Charlie’s human side, as well as his artistic side, from his struggles as a performer to his eventual Academy Award.
Charlie, born Charles Spencer Chaplin, hailed from London, England. He rose to fame during the silent film era, and is best known for his tramp persona. His hit films include A Woman in Paris, The Kid and The Gold Rush. His first sound film was The Great Dictator, where he satirised Adolf Hitler. During his career, however, he was accused of being a Communist sympathiser and was forced to leave the United States and settle in Switzerland.
Jeddah Season rebranded as Jeddah Events and takes place throughout the year. The festival includes international, cultural and marine events, which share the history and heritage of the city. This year’s slogan is, “Together with each other throughout the year”. The season aims to showcase Jeddah as a regional as well as a global tourist destination.
Charlie is showing from 9pm to midnight. Tickets start from SAR 100.
