The first luxury Red Sea resort showcases the rich history and traditions of Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea megaproject is one of the most ambitious developments in the country. The site boasts dazzling developments, from regenerative tourism initiatives to luxury hotels. If you’re having a hard time imagining it all, Six Senses Southern Dunes is now officially open.
Six Senses Southern Dunes is home to 36 guest rooms and 40 pool villas, strategically positioned to take full advantage of the stunning vistas of the dunes and wadi. These structures, made from locally sourced materials, were envisioned by the British architectural firm Foster + Partners, known for its environmentally conscious designs. The interior design mirrors the external beauty, drawing inspiration from the vibrant colours and intricate patterns of traditional Bedouin attire.
The resort is home to the fabulous Wadi Suite, where modern luxury meets traditional Bedouin artisan crafts. It’s the perfect desert retreat with its separate living and dining area, private terrace with hanging daybeds and sunbeds, and stunning views of the dune-filled landscape.
For guests looking for the ultimate luxury experience, the resort offers a selection of stunning Pool Villas, available in one-bedroom and two-bedroom options. They feature private pools, spacious living and dining areas and outdoor terraces with day beds and sun loungers. For an awe-inspiring sunset experience, the Sunset Pool Villas offer breathtaking views of the sun setting over the mountain peaks of the Saudi Arabian desert.
The Retreat is a spacious three-bedroom pool villa, perfect for larger groups or families. With its secluded desert setting, cinema room and access to resort facilities, it provides a serene and luxurious retreat. The villa features a private pool and outdoor terrace and a magnificent view of the desert dunes and mountain peaks.
The resort’s crowning glory is The Sunset Reserve, a four-bedroom pool villa that comfortably sleeps up to eight people. Its fully fitted kitchen, large pantry and ample outdoor space for entertaining offer the perfect setting for gatherings and celebrations.
In addition to its luxurious accommodations, Six Senses Southern Dunes offers a diverse culinary experience. The resort features five dining outlets, including Bariya, an all-day dining restaurant serving regional and international cuisine with a focus on well-being, and Al Sarab, a restaurant offering authentic Arabian flavours. Guests can also enjoy snacks and plant-based Arabic tapas at Merkaz, indulge in freshly baked delicacies at Gelato Pod, or opt for poolside dining at the Pool Bar & Grill. The resort also offers in-villa dining and a cooking school where guests can learn the secrets of the local gastronomy.
The Six Senses Spa reflects the organic, undulating patterns found in the dunes, leading guests to a range of facilities including a salon, barber, three single and two double treatment rooms (featuring the Frankincense Suite offering Rasul treatments), and a hammam. The spa also houses an Alchemy Bar where guests can handcraft clean skincare products using the rich spices and fragrances once traded by the Nabateans.
Beyond its luxurious accommodations and culinary delights, the design of the resort pays homage to the Nabataean heritage of the Red Sea coast. Guests can unleash their creativity with Sadu Weaving, learn from local artisans or dive into the rich history through a local fishing tour. Relax under the stars with Cinema Under the Stars and explore the region’s cultural heritage at the vibrant Artisan Village, where arts, crafts, dance and music come alive.
Fredrik Blomqvist, General Manager of Six Senses Southern Dunes, The Red Sea said: “Everything we’re doing here reflects our unwavering commitment to sustainability and cultural preservation, while also pushing the boundaries of adventure and wellness. This part of the world holds much intrigue for visitors and immense potential for regenerative tourism. We aim to showcase the unique beauty and cultural richness of this region, while promoting sustainable tourism practices that contribute to the economic growth of the region and the conservation of its heritage.”
Guests have the option of a 45-minute private car transfer from the Red Sea International Airport, veering through tranquil desert mountains and narrow wadis to reach the resort. Alternatively, visitors can choose a domestic flight from Yanbu Airport followed by a two-hour transfer to the resort.
