The world’s biggest competitive gaming event returns to Riyadh from 7 July.

Saudi Arabia continues to dominate the global entertainment stage, and this summer, the Kingdom is upping the ante with the return of the Esports World Cup in Riyadh. Kicking off on 7 July, the world’s largest competitive gaming event just added a major name to its roster. Cristiano Ronaldo has officially signed on as Global Ambassador for the Esports World Cup 2025 edition.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner and global football icon will lead the tournament’s worldwide campaign, bringing his signature star power to the ever-expanding world of esports. As part of the partnership, fans will even find Ronaldo playable in FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves, just one of the 25 games featured in this year’s stacked tournament lineup.

“Sport is always evolving – and esports is one more frontier,” Ronaldo shared. “The commitment, drive, talent, and intensity I have been able to see in esports athletes is no different from what I’ve experienced on the pitch.” That competitive edge is echoed in this year’s tournament theme: Rise Above, a rallying call to push boundaries and redefine potential.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s connection to the tournament isn’t new. After attending last year’s closing ceremony and being part of the inaugural announcement in 2023, his return as ambassador marks a natural evolution of the partnership.

Running from 7 July to 24 August at Boulevard City, the Esports World Cup 2025 is expected to feature players from over 100 countries, representing 200 of the world’s top clubs in 25 different tournaments.

With a prize pool of SAR 262 million (USD 70 million), it’s a full-scale festival for fans, players, and pop culture enthusiasts alike. The event features a concert lineup that includes Alesso and Post Malone on 10 July 2025.

Tickets to the Esports World Cup are now live, with prices starting at SAR 115.
