London achieved an overall score of 83.9, and Dubai has an overall score of 77.1, underscoring their appeal to both residents and global professionals.
Despite its reputation as a fast-paced global hub, London demonstrates strong performance across the three essential pillars of work-life well-being: city liveability, societal and institutional factors, and work intensity.
With its cultural richness, abundance of green spaces, focus on safety, and wellness opportunities, London ranks highly for liveability. Strong institutional support plays a vital role in its success, offering easy access to healthcare, mental health resources, and inclusive legislation for both locals and newcomers. The index reports a moderate level of overworked residents and a healthy average of holiday days taken.
The index is not intended to highlight the best cities to work in; instead, it serves as a guideline for cities to benchmark their ability to support the fulfilment of residents’ lives by improving aspects that help relieve work-related stress and intensity.
The result is an index based on 16 factors, analysing 50 cities in the United States, followed by a global ranking of 30 notable U.S. cities and 45 international cities that recognise the importance of a healthy work-life balance.
