There is a new way to arrive in Saudi Arabia, thanks to the national airline, Riyadh Air. His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz announced the launch of the airline, which connects the capital to more than 100 destinations. Now, the new designs for the first plane have been unveiled, and we can’t wait to hop on board.

Riyadh Air unveiled a bold design, which comes in shades of dark and light purple. On the side of the plane, the name is written in both Arabic and English and includes the R logo. The design draws inspiration from the Kingdom’s lavender fields, shades of indigo at night and is the colour pantone 2655.

Riyadh Air also revealed its Airline Designator Code from the International Air Transport Association (IATA): RX. The airline will operate from the capital, and the routes span Africa, Asia and Europe. Upon completion, it will transform the city into a travel hub and destination for transportation, trade and tourism.

While Riyadh Air aims to be a world-class airline, it will have Saudi Arabian hospitality at its heart – we’re hoping that there is kabsa onboard. The brand will operate an advanced fleet of aircraft, which are equipped with the latest cutting-edge technology. Plus, it has set out to meet the highest sustainability and safety standards.

Riyadh Air is owned by Public Investment Fund. The airline is chaired by His Excellency Yasir Al-Rumayyan, Governor of PIF, and the Chief Executive Officer is Tony Douglas. Plus, senior management will include Saudi and international employees.

Buckle up, it’s going to be an exciting ride.
